Host an ACT Event

Bring ACT to Your City

An Armed Combat & Tactics (ACT) seminar brings our training approach directly to your community. Every event is designed to develop fighting ability through drills, tactical scenarios, and sparring.

Our program includes seven core weapons, empty-hand applications, improvised weapons, and anti-knife scenarios. This variety allows us to design the seminar content to match the audience, whether they are experienced martial artists, multidisciplinary practitioners, or groups seeking a powerful team-building experience.

Who can host a seminar?

An Armed Combat & Tactics (ACT) seminar brings uncompromising, pressure-tested training directly to your community. Every event is designed to develop real fighting ability through sparring, tactical application, and the shared exploration of combat principles.

Martial arts schools

We are often invited to martial arts schools and academies to provide cross-training and enrichment for their students and instructors. Our seminars expose practitioners to new perspectives, weapons, and tactical principles, strengthening their existing practice while challenging them to expand their combative range.

Martial arts EVENTS

Multi-disciplinary martial arts events often feature ACT through introductory courses. In these settings we usually focus on our weapon fighting curriculum, which is what ACT is most recognized for internationally. Participants are introduced to the structure and principles of the system through practical experience with weapons, often sparking interest for deeper training.

Corporate Gatherings

Professional and corporate gatherings host ACT seminars to strengthen teamwork and decision-making under pressure. The principles of timing, adaptability, and resilience in combat translate directly into leadership and group dynamics while also giving participants practical fighting skills.

We offer three types of seminars

ACT offers three primary seminar types. Additionally, with seven core weapons, improvised tools, and integrated empty-hand solutions, each seminar can be tailored to the host’s audience and objectives.

Knife Defense and Tactical Solutions

  • Knife-on-knife combat
  • Armed and unarmed street scenarios
  • Empty-hand tactics based on knife training
  • Improvised weapon use and tactical baton applications
  • Extreme close-quarters encounters
  • Knife assault psychology and tactical understanding
  • Multiple-opponent situations, armed and unarmed

Short Weapons

  • Knife, machete, tactical baton, and improvised tools such as kubotan, umbrella, or magazine
  • Empty-hand defense against bladed weapons
  • Knife-to-knife combat across ranges
  • Machete versus machete training
  • Tactical baton against knife, including multiple attackers
  • Improvised weapon defense under combat pressure

Traditional Weapons

  • Sword (Katana or Longsword)
  • Staff (Jo or Bo)
  • Spear or Polearm (Yari or Naginata)

How to host a seminar

A seminar can be organized exclusively for your school, organization, or company, or it can be opened to the wider public. Hosting may be done individually or in partnership with others.

Format

Most seminars are conducted over two to three days with 12 to 16 hours of intensive training. Master classes are usually a one-day event with two 3-hour training sessions. Alternative schedules can be arranged according to local needs.

Instructors

ACT seminars are led by instructors with extensive experience teaching both domestically and internationally. We list instructors who speak different languages. All our international seminar givers are skilled at adapting the material to different audiences. A defining part of our approach is that instructors spar with participants who wish to test what is taught. This practice ensures credibility, builds trust, and demonstrates that we fight as we teach.

Costs and Terms

Hosting costs include:

  • Seminar fee as agreed with the instructor (usually between $500 and $2000), depending on the instructor, seminar format, and country
  • Travel, food, and lodging, which may be arranged in hotels or other suitable accommodations

The host arranges flights and accommodations in advance, and the seminar fee is paid at the conclusion of the event.

Group Instructor Courses

Many seminars are combined with instructor training. This gives organizations the chance not only to host a high-level event but also to develop certified instructors who can continue teaching ACT within their community.
